About Us
Sa-Lyn Ponies, which is located in Louisburg, North Carolina -- just 35 miles northeast of Raleigh, was established in 2004 by Sam and Cheryl Hight.
With the desire to be closer to family, the move from Virginia back to Sam’s home town was made in 1987 when Sam and Cheryl purchased the house that was part of the family farm where Sam grew up as a child.
Sam and Cheryl raised and showed Quarter Horses for 28 years, but soon decided that they wanted to expand their equine business and branch out to the hunter pony arena. Thus, began the search for “THE ONE” who would be the foundation to the hunter pony market they were aiming for. It was love at first sight with a 2003 weanling colt (Pajon’s Buccaneer) that they had seen advertised for sale in the Welsh Review by owners Pat and Jim Clay of Alberta, Canada. It was this purchase of Pajon’s Buccaneer, a Section B, that Sa-Lyn Ponies was established and would provide the looks, temperament, conformation and quality pony they were looking to raise for today's market.
